Respect, no doubts. Be afraid of Ukrainians who comes and reduce your amount in two times... Owners will just relieve You with a cheap counterpart. They just have no idea abt it. But it will happen...

meany things could evaluate the salary of the second engineer we can check them together quickly :
1- the education degree .. Bsc MBA etc., so you have to get at least a Bsc degree from some honored Academy .. as we see the candidates with british degree or dutch is more expensive than ukrainian or russians or asian ...
2- the type of the certificates and training that you have also evaluate how much is your rate..
3- the region that you came from and your nationality .. nowadays all the merchant fleet after the crises trying to reduce there expenses .. that's mean cheap seafarers with less requirements   as you can see mostly of the seafarers today from the next in order nationalities
( Philippine,ukraine , Russia,Poland , India ,Bangladesh,Pakistan, sri-Lanka) .
4- how professional you are and the kind of experience that you have and your backgrounds in the working field so the shipowner could know how much interest how could gain from you.

finally there's a several classes of the companies you should find your outfit in any one of them at the stage that you know you are in at the main time so you can find the better four you with your qualification , we all know that we the seaman's are just a non recycled  product so we have to gain as much as we can when we could gain from our work because we paying at the same time from our health and time and power physical and moral.... other than the dangers that we work with it every day ...
my first chief engineer tolled me that we the seaman's like the cigarette for the ship owners they remember us as long as they smoke but when the cigarettes (you) finish they smoke another one ....
