deck cadet

sir good day, i just wanted to ask what company/companies here in the Philippines are now accepting newly grad. cadets. i currently finished my study at Baliwag Maritime Academy with BS marine transportation, i already have a 6 mos. onboard general cargo vessel of 7,463grt trading mainly in fareast (japan-Philippines). i am willing to undergone trainings and other seminars required for some companies. please sir give me idea where can it be possible.. thanks!!

What ive been trying lately (even tho i have my company already) is that i made a CV, i affixed there all my local docs, and training certificates, and then uploaded it here. That way I would be able to be recognized by some of the shipping companies abroad.

For Local (philippines) naman, ganun din, same lng, hanap ako ng job openings on the internet, then i email them my CV.

Ung school ko rin, is looking for company for their students. School namin ang nag eendorse saming mga cadet sa ibat ibang mga shipping agencies.

may company na ako na inaaplyan, sa Wilhelmsen-Smith Bell Manning Agency sa Makati, aka DSD Shipping.

But i do some back up plans, un nga, emailing my CVs to different company and standing by for announcement galing sa school ko kung nakahanap na sila ng ma eendorsan na company :)

i've already  do that. but still some company are looking for applicants with a 1year shipboard training. but i only have 6mos. onboard exp. maybe after i finished my thesis i will board interisland vessel to comlpete my requirements..

yes sir, we have a thesis to finished before we can acquire our BS on Marine Transportation, the commission on Higher Ed. Amended it and the batch on our class was included to follow their new curriculum. might sounds weird but we cannot do something about it, we're just following rules.. :)

Good. I've tell you that because when i was in kalaw a weeks or month ago, they're looking for senior deck cadet. As you've said, you already been onboard as cadet for 6 months so you are qualified for that position. God Bless!

i know its the same thats why i had a reaction like that cause its unusual for me to hear the word "thesis" from a maritime student, cause all i know is that we only do TRBs and not Thesis :)

yes, I know that it is unusual, try to think of it that we need to make a thesis before we can acquire our BS, onboard a ship, there is no thesis.haha. chipping, de rusting and painting of ships structure are the jobs there for ratings, computations and other major jobs on bridge for the ships officer. am i right?! haha
